Bespoke helical rollers and spiral brushes
Widdops’ coil brushes are constructed by mounting our standard brush strip on a rotating core, winding the strip into a continuous helix, forming a helical roller brush. The core can also form part of the coil strip brush’s function, as seen in our range of Trommel Roller Brushes. The helical strip can also be removed from the core and supplied loose for different applications, like being fitted to the flights of an auger, for example.
Custom-designed Helical roller brushes
Widdops custom designs each spiral brush, with a full range of standard filaments available in a variety of lengths. Each aspect of the coil brush is chosen to suit the intended application and size of the helical strip required. Our bespoke industrial coil brushes are widely used as auger brushes to move materials and break up debris in the water treatment and food processing industries.
Widdops can manufacture coil strip brushes up to 4 metres in length, with a trimmed diameter of 700mm. The size limits on our helical strip brushes ensure a hassle-free handling and delivery process. Due to manufacturing limitations, the minimum shaft diameter available for our spiral brushes is approximately 25mm, with a length of 100mm, subject to the chosen helical strip size.

Depending on the application of the helical roller, one of the following materials is used for the backing strip of our coil brushes:
- Galvanised mild steel
- 316 stainless steel
- 304 stainless steel

Applications
Our extensive experience as helical brush manufacturers means we are experts in creating industrial coil brushes and using many different types of helical strip brushes. We can advise on most coil brush applications, especially for cleaning, sealing, and product transfer. Our standard style of cylinder spiral strip brush only allows for filament movement in two directions, compared to four directions for a tufted brush.
